The experience of being high

The effects of drugs
on the body and the mind,
through google translate.

The different stages of being high

An introduction to being high:
Stage one exists of a physical reaction
Scratchy throat and a swollen eye,
Burning lungs and a delayed action.
Stage two is all about satisfaction.
Everything in the world seems right,
No more problems in your sight.

An existential crisis happens in Stage three
When everything gets too intense,
And you start to question what could be.
Anxiety gets to you in Stage four,
And heightens your senses even more.
To the point where everything gets too much
And life seems to slip from your touch.

Stage five is when the panic hits,
When nothing makes you feel divine,
This is when you want to call it quits.
Stop. Breathe. Everything will be fine,
Once you put the drugs back into a line.
Stage six is when you get extremely tired
And thus your bed is all you ever desired.

Sleep, Breathe and all will be okay,
Until you get high again the next day.

Editor:

With this poetic sequence, I tried to show the fragmented mind of someone who is on drug and how that can change over time. The original poem tries to show how a person feels right after they have taken drugs. However, over time drugs starts to affect your brain and some of the things you say or think no longer make sense. The second and third poem are supposed to show this fragmented mind of a person on drugs.

I translated the original poem through google translate by putting the poem through a sequence of different languages (English- Azerbaijani-Bulgarian-Corsican-French-Spanish-German-English), which has the second poem as an end result. After this I translated the second poem through google translate, again by putting the poem through a sequence of different languages (English- Bosnian-Frisian-Greeks-Javanese-Thai-Italian-English), which has the third poem as an end result. If you look at the three poems you can see that the poems begin to make less sense after each poem, which highlights the fragmented mind of someone on drugs.
